River Creek Village Complex Coming to Edwards Ferry

River Creek developer, Marc Montgomery and his partners The Tower Companies, are planning to build a mixed-used development of about 70,000 square feet of retail and 55,000 square feet of office space on Edwards Ferry Road in Leesburg, next to Costco.

Residents of River Creek, Lansdowne, Potomac Station and the Lakes at Red Rock developments would definitely benefit from the additional retail and dining conveniences that River Creek Village will offer. No doubt things have improved dramatically for these residents with the opening of Lansdowne Town Center and Potomac Station shopping complex.

We can only hope that Edwards Ferry Road will be fixed before the new complex opens, otherwise get ready for heavy traffic on that road.

The County has approved this but they won't pave that darn road?

I live in Lansdowne and I feel as though I already have enough retail and dining options available to me. I use River Creek Pkwy/Edwards Ferry Road as a short-cut into Leesburg during rush hour. Once this complex is complete, it should be total gridlock on every road leading to Rte 15 or 15 by-pass.

Will the complex end up being another collection of big boxes? Developers like "guaranteed" leases. What stores don't we already have? -- Lowes, K-Mart, Bed, Bath & Beyond or Linens & Things (Chap 11 for the latter), Toys'R Us. None of these enhance my shopping experience. Leesburg suffers from a lack of good restaurants, but adding a bunch of big chain restaurants doesn't improve the situation in my opinion.

Will the complex look like Lansdowne Town Center, with some interesting restaurants, but not enough retail? I can't imagine this to be the plan because I don't see how people will be able to approach the shopping area on foot.

Forgot to mention Edwards Landing. The community right next to this development. It's going to be nice to walk to restaurants from there. Sorry that my neighborhood restaurant ia going to interfere with your shortcut.
